Floreana
Floreana Island is a flamingo paradise, where the slender birds can be seem wading through the lagoon and catching shrimp. The island also has interesting an human history as it is the site of the first 'post office', established in 1793 by whalers, and the first human Galápagos resident at the start of the 1800s, an Irishman named Patrick Watkins.
Now, the human population of Floreana is less than 150 people. Puerto Velasco Ibarra is the port town with one hotel, a church and a school with two teachers.
